February 26, 2005 was a special day for Stray Rescue for two reasons. First, Randy and Quentin signed copies of his second book, Miracle Dog and secondly, AG Edwards donated $50,000 to Stray Rescue for the purpose of rescuing and rehabilitating more street dogs. AG Edwards also supported Stray Rescue by purchasing doggie bandanas and green, Stray Rescue-Compassion bracelets. Both of these items as well as the book were premiered for the first time during this event. Approximately 550 people attending the book launch event and enjoyed meeting Randy, Quentin and a few Stray Rescue dogs available for adoption. At 1 p.m. Mr. Bob Bagby, Chairman/CEO of AG Edwards presented an oversized check to Randy and said some kind words about Stray Rescue. Randy also spoke briefly about Quentin and the beginnings of Stray Rescue. Jennifer Blome of KSDK did a wonderful job as emcee for the ceremony. Guests were treated to snacks and beverages donated by AG Edwards. While waiting in line to get their books autographed, supporters could watch a videotape showing footage of Quentin's story as well as view a large photography display of dogs living on the streets. The best part of the day, however, came when Bob Bagby adopted a new family member from Stray Rescue. Mowzie, later renamed as Gracie, was a puppy rescued from uncertainty on a street corner by Stray Rescue employee. We are happy to report that Gracie has adjusted well to her new home and fellow sibling. Miracle Dog, is the story about Quentin's survival in the gas chamber and how this event changed not only his life but Randy Grim's as well. As a result of this miracle, Quentin is now the national spokesdog for the international animal welfare organization, In Defense of Animals. Randy and Quentin travel around the United States promoting adoption from shelters, the guardian campaign, responsible pet guardian ship and the need for more no-kill shelters. Below are photos of the event, taken by Donna Lochmann. |
