God Bless "America"

                         

     

America is a special dog indeed. On our feeding runs there is an abandon burnt out home that houses three wonderful strays. All three dogs are very sweet and so deserving of rescue but as usual, no space at the inn. Having to triage which dogs can be rescued on any given day is taxing on us emotionally but sometimes you really have no choice. America is one of those dogs. She looked like she was going to pop out a puppy at any moment and time was of the essence. 

              

As she was carried into the shelter her water broke, labor began. After caring for her all night and just seeing her in pain with no pups, we knew it was time for Dr. Ed and Hillside to do their magic.  Her pups never calcified and were dead inside her and she was filled with fluid from a deadly disease called Pyometra as well as heartworm and other ailments. She had emergency surgery and is recovering well and if you would like to help in her recovery, please donate… for America is just one of hundreds we have saved this year needing our help.
