St. Louis, May 14th 2010- PETCO partners with Stray Rescue of St. Louis to help complete Phase One (Life Phase) of the new downtown animal center located at 2320 Pine St. The check presentation will commence at 10:00 am on May 14th followed by a hard hat tour for the media and guest.

The new center is well under construction. The Life Phase, phase one, one of two phases, includes our own trauma center/vet clinic for the strays, 69 new runs, parvo unit, education center and offices with a grand opening date of July 1.  Phase Two which includes the lobby, adoption floor and yard still needs funding of 1.2 million to complete.

“I would like to challenge St. Louis based corporations to match this generous donation from PETCO” says Randy Grim the founder. Most of the major donations for the building have come from out of state. “It is time for the large companies of the St. Louis area to participate in changing our landscape and help make St. Louis the nation’s most pet friendly city” Grim continues.

On hand will be a rescued dog named Petco that the regional manager of PETCO, Paul Baker, assisted Randy on the streets in saving. Sheet Metal Union #36 will be presenting a donation as well.
