Bikers Hit the Road for Inaugural Hogs for Dogs Charity Ride
spacer
Nearly 150 bikes of all types participated in the inaugural Stray Rescue Hogs for Dogs Charity Ride Sept. 18.

The ride started at Hazzards Bar and Grill in Fenton. Participants were treated to complimentary food and were able to purchase special Hogs for Dogs T-shirts and tank tops, bumper stickers, and other merchandise plus jewelry by Monica T.

The first pit stop was at Kinder's Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge in Calhoun County, Ill. After two ferry rides and several miles along the Great River Road, the ride culminated at the Loading Dock in Grafton, Ill. Jake's Leg provided the entertainment. Many lucky riders had winning tickets for attendance prizes, including specially designed tie-dyed Hogs for Dogs T-shirts. Randy Grim, Stray Rescue founder, and Quentin the Miracle Dog received an original painting by Larry Kealing of his rendition of Quentin, the Harley Dog, which also served as the design on the event T-shirts, fliers and bumper stickers.

Stray Rescue extends a big "Woof" to the following individuals and businesses, whose support helped make the ride a big success: Tom Coates, Larry Kealing, Bikers Paradise, Big Boys Custom Cycles, and the band of Stray Rescue volunteers who worked the event.

Hogs for Dogs II is slated for September 2006.

Below are photos of the event, taken by Julie Hageman and Donna Lochmann.
