Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Three Dog Bakery put on a cool event on a hot day at the annual Ice Cream Social,
July 11.

Patrons and their pooches participated in a number of activities, including cake walks, lickety split doggie treat eating contests and games of "skill" such as picking (or knocking off or just sniffing) bones off a pegboard, bobbing for tennis balls and guessing the number of bones in a large jar.

Other activities featured pet psychic Faith Robinson, caricaturists Share Faerber and Bill Michel, photographer Jerry Seegers, balloon artist Josh Roush and his face-painting wife Ginger.

The event raised more than $4,500 for Stray Rescue. Special thanks are extended to Vicki Sence and her staff at Three Dog Bakery for designating Stray Rescue as the beneficiary of this fund raiser. And as usual many thanks to Stray Rescue's legion of volunteers (and our favorite Girl Scouts), without whom such events would be impossible to do successfully.

Below are photos of the event, taken by Donna Lochmann.
