  Ice Cream Social 2005

Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Three Dog Bakery kicked off summer June 26 with the annual Ice Cream Social.

Under a blazing sun, good doggies and their guardians were treated to games, food and fun. Canines' skills were tested to the max in several "challenging" games, including the Bone 2 Pick and cake walk. Patrons and their pooches left with toys by the armloads after playing games such as Woof-L Ball, washer toss, Tootsie Pop Pull and bone drop-in-the-bottle.

A steady stream of patrons visited animal psychic Faith Robinson, caricaturist Share Faerber and pet photographer Theresa McGraw, who donated all or a portion of their time and talents. Seaberry Designs also donated a portion of their custom bracelet sales to Stray Rescue. Harvey the Juggler also entertained the crowd with an interesting show.

The event raised more than $3,100 for Stray Rescue. Thanks again to Vicki Sence and the Three Dog staff for cosponsoring the event for the fifth year.

And special kudos as usual to the Stray Rescue volunteers - including Florrie Kohn and Girl Scout Troop 2306 - who scooped ice cream, solicited raffle items, sold tickets, staffed the information/raffle booth and game venues, donated refreshments and ice, helped set up and clean up, provided prizes for games, and filled swimming pools to cool off the pooches. Once again, thanks for all you do!

Below are photos of the event, taken by Donna Lochmann.
