  Ice Cream Social 2006

Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Three Dog Bakery kicked off summer June 11 with the sixth annual Ice Cream Social.

On an unseasonably cool day - a real departure from previous socials - good doggies and their guardians were treated to games, food and fun. Patrons and their pooches left with toys by the armloads after playing "challenging" games such as Woof-L Ball, washer toss, bean bag toss and Tootsie Pop Pull. Some of Stray Rescue's newest pooches also got plenty of smooches at the Puppy Kissing Booth.

A steady stream of patrons visited animal psychic Faith Robinson, paw print artist Cindy Daly, silhouette artist Deanna Nash and pet photographer Sherrie Brooks, who each donated all or a portion of their time and talents.

The event raised more than $2,600 for Stray Rescue. Thanks again to Vicki Sence and the Three Dog staff for cosponsoring the event.

And special kudos as usual to the Stray Rescue volunteers - including Kathy Harris and her Girl Scout troop - who solicited raffle items, sold tickets, staffed the information/raffle booth and game venues, donated refreshments and ice, helped set up and clean up, provided prizes for games, loaned us tents and tables, a sound system complete with an announcer, and filled swimming pools to cool off the pooches. Once again, thanks for all you do!

Below are photos of the event, taken by Donna Lochmann.

Cindy Daly kept busy all day long helping dogs create a piece of art using their feet and tails. Kids with 2 or 4 legs just love finger/paw painting.
