September 13, 2005 Update

For those living in the St. Louis area, you may have seen on the television news stations that FEMA is no longer going to house evacuees at the St. Louis airport hanger. However, evacuees will still be coming to St. Louis but they are trying to put them into more permanent housing arrangements. FEMA has requested that Stray Rescue continue to be a resource for those pets coming with their guardians.

Randy is due back in St. Louis at the end of the week. He is working with Project Hope and other relief organizations and gathering first hand information about the needs of the various animal relief staging areas. In addition to working during the day, he is humanely trapping those animals no one has been able catch at night. Because of the excessive heat, these frightened strays come out at night to look for food. We anxiously await for him to return. Also, Randy has learned that the rescued animals are being kept for 30 days at the relief shelters to give owners a chance to reunite.
Woof!
