September 21, 2005 Update
The past week has been an exciting one as the 19 dogs we brought from Mississippi last week have settled into their foster homes and a few have already found their forever home. All were classified as official "love bugs" as each one was as affectionate as they come. Upon arrival, the dogs were processed, photographed and the foster parents were loaded up with donated supplies so they would only have the best for these dogs. Over the past week, the dogs have been going to a veterinarian clinic for a medical evaluation and treatment. While some were in good health, most will require medical treatment as many have not been spayed or neutered, a few have heartworms and/or eye infections as an example. The generosity of those who have supported this effort will be used to bring these dogs to their optimal health. On September 22, we expect our second caravan of rescued animals from the gulf coast to arrive and we wait with anticipation and excitement. More adult dogs and puppies are coming as well as kittens. There are two very injured dogs who will be taken to Dr. Ed at Hillside Animal Hospital upon arrival. Stay tuned to our web site for more updates. If you are interested in adopting a 4 legged hurricane survivor, many will start showing up at our weekly adoption events, including this weekend, as well as on our web site. Please see our event calendar for our scheduled adoption events. Woof! Randy Grim |
