  THE RESCUE OF MAMBO

The rescue of Mambo was a long time coming. He is part of the Ray's Automotive pack in north city. At one time this pack was very large, nestled in a collapsed junk filled area. We have been able to rescue quite a few but sadly many have also died. Two "kids" remain, Bolero and Samba, waiting to be saved. Mambo was the low man on the totem pole so food was always very tough to come by for this guy. He would get beat up if it wasn't his turn and got only what was left over.

We watched him and the others suffer for any months and rescued him when space was available. The local police also fed this pack. Mambo became a brave 'lil soldier as months pasted. He would only eat from my hand, just shy of letting me noose him. His big day finally came when space opened up at the shelter.

Safe at the shelter he loves to be petted, likes his walks - though it was a challenge to teach him how to. He is a gentle dog soul and oh so sweet. His bad days are behind him.
