	Margie was rescued during a cold snap in February. A local news station was doing a story about dogs trying to survive the cold outside. We had just received a call from a local trucking company about a momma dog and her pups that needed help. These conscientious truckers had built a makeshift shelter for them but Margie, the momma, wouldn't let them get close enough to get her or her babies. When we arrived we found Margie stoically keeping guard over her babies. She was very protective of them. We had to set up a humane trap in order to get her and her pups. As we were leaving a line of truckers had pulled over to give us a round of applause. Some were evening wiping tears from their eyes. They were so happy we were able to help and that the babies were going to have a chance and Margie would finally be able to have an opportunity of a real life. It was quite emotional for everyone. Once at the shelter Margie relaxed and welcomed the help from the volunteers. Her puppies were adopted out to loving homes. Now it's Margie's turn. She is doing very well in her foster home. Her foster mom says she is housebroken, crate trained and is working on walking on a leash. She gets along great with other dogs too. Since she is submissive Margie would be a great addition to a family that already has a dog. She also gets along with cats, she follows them around and gives them kisses. She can jump a standard fence so she would need a privacy or electric fence unless you prefer to walk. She is already spayed, micro chipped and vaccinated.
