The Strays That Came From the Basement

Recently, a police officer called Stray Rescue concerning a mom and her two pups who were living in the basement of one of the most dilapidated houses we have seen. The dark, damp basement was completely full of trash and, among the clutter, we found Sheri Anne and her puppies, Anello and Divine. A third puppy who was close by, Scimone, was rescued the day before.

Though she was utterly terrified, Sheri Anne was very sweet and obviously a good mother. Anello and Divine, her two feral pups, were hiding in the dark corners of the basement out of site.

Armed with their flashlights, Randy, Jenny, and Donna canvassed the dank rooms, squeezing around corners, dodging spider webs, and even avoiding a dead rabbit that was on the ground. Darting from trash heap to trash heap in the dark, these pups were VERY difficult to catch!

It took the entire rescue team, but the whole family was rescued from a deplorable life of struggling on the streets. A happy ending to a difficult, puppy-wrangling rescue! Please contact barbi@strayrescue.org if you can foster.
