Mia and her Puppies

Mia lived her life in a horrible junkyard in a very bad part of the city. She had a litter of pups, but even with her desperate care, only three of the pups managed to live through the terrible cold and snow. The conditions they lived in were deplorable.  The only place they could find shelter was in old derelict automobiles and buses. Bodies of dogs who died in the cold lay strewn on the floor of these vehicles, and Mia and her pups had to sleep amongst them, shivering and hungry.

Even though Mia's life had been full of hardship and hunger, she did not at first trust humans. It took the rescue group many attempts to gain her trust to get close enough to catch her and her pups.

Here are several photos of the rescue of Mia and her pups.

Mia's Pups
The puppies huddle together. Can these humans be trusted?

When the group finally caught Mia, she was so scared, and the pups had never been touched by human hands. Now the family is safe, and healthy and have new homes. Mia is really coming out of her shell and the pups are behaving like all good pups should; having fun and lots of food!!
