As many of you know, one of the packs we are trying to help is the one we call the "broken leg" pack. Its leader we named Spartacus. It was very cold this day and area was more dangerous than usual. Violence and crime surrounded us as, a stolen van was stopped and the suspects fleeing within feet of me trying to save this poor dog that was on his final last legs. To boot there was also drug deals going on as well. Not safe for us but I just couldn't leave the pack because this time they came running when they heard my SUV (the food truck).
This time Spartacus came within inches. This time Spartacus allowed me to pet his battered body. Knowing time was running out for him and danger was surrounding us I had no choice but pray he would trust me finally and let me lift him and dash to the car for safety and leave. He took that leap of faith - a brave soul.
He may lose a leg, we are not sure yet, and he has much recovering to do. But I can tell you he is wagging his tail and loving all of us. He knows he has been saved, he knows he will never suffer again. Feel free to apply for our special boy and we will keep you posted on his recovery- you can even pay him a visit while he recovers for he loves his petting.
