On March 13, Stray Rescue got a call about a pregnant dog with a steel trap attached to her back leg. This was Sahara. Her rescue story was broadcast on several television stations. When rescued, you could see her back bones as well as her ribs despite being hugely pregnant. At the time we didn't realize she had also been shot, was missing an ear and was suffering from Heartworms. Dr. Ed reports he doesn't have to remove the bullet from her back and it appears that her leg and foot will heal on its own. We are thrilled that she won't lose her leg. She is being treated for her Heartworms and will be spayed and micro chipped. On March 30 she gave birth to 11 puppies. All are doing well and are in foster homes, ready for adoption. Sahara was in a foster home and getting along well with the other dogs but she would be best in a home without cats. She can be timid at first but once you earn her trust she warms up to you. She is already housebroken and is so laid back she spends most of her day in her dog bed. If you would like to meet Sahara just fill out an application.
