The Rescue of Twix and Butterfinger




	THE RESCUE OF TWIX AND BUTTERFINGER On one of those hot and humid days we were making our daily rounds and working on a project to map out highly populated areas of strays. While scouting I saw a ball of dog. A dog that looked like he has had enough, a dog that was starving and beaten up. He ran with a bad limp as I came closer with food but Butterfinger, his pal, ran within two feet of me when she saw that I food. Skittish and leery she shied away at first. Darrell went to the back of the depilated house to lure Twix, while I worked on rescuing Butterfinger. We enlisted the help of a girl who said her grandmother feeds them when she can. It made us feel good that in such a poverty stricken area, the woman would feed these sad strays. Twix devoured the food, he was starved and paid no attention to Darrell and the girl noosing him up. All he was concerned about was getting some food in his stomach. On the Butterfinger front, the food was doing the trick as well. I could tell she was pregnant. It was off to the shelter and immediately both dogs acted like the won the lottery and there has been nothing but tail wags and kisses of gratitude. Twix does have a bad front leg and many scars, but both dogs will be healed and ready for adoption to a home that will never let them starve. Randy
