Create Your Will

We make gifts to charity during our lifetime because we want to help. But we all know we will not live forever. It is both thoughtful and responsible to create a will so your loved ones are not burdened with more stress and tough decisions when that time comes. With FreeWill, you can write your own legal will online, with their simple yet thorough site. It will walk you through supporting the people and causes that mean the most to you, and there is even a place to include plans for your pets.

Remember Stray Rescue in Your Will

There are many ways in which you can leave a legacy for the animals that you love so much. Examples include leaving a specified amount of cash, an investment fund, or a percentage of your estate. Consulting an attorney may be beneficial in assisting you with your wishes.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why is FreeWill free?

FreeWill’s no-charge product is made possible with the support of nonprofit organizations. Many of our will-makers choose to leave a portion of their estate to charity, and we hope you’ll consider doing the same.

  • Do I need a will?

A will is important for everyone and can be useful regardless of estate size. It’s a way to support the people and causes important to you. Having a will ensures that your wishes are known, saving your loved ones the stress and cost of intestate probate proceedings.

  • Does FreeWill offer other end-of-life planning documents?

Yes! We have advance healthcare directives (also known as healthcare proxies or living wills), and durable financial power of attorneys as well. All are free to use.

  • Can I change my will?

Yes! Your circumstances and wishes may change after you’ve completed your will. If that happens, you can make a new will to replace your old one. All you have to do is sign the new will with witnesses and remember to destroy the previous one.

You can also pair your will with an attorney:

If you have a larger estate, children with special needs, or complicated family dynamics, you may want to pair FreeWill with an experienced attorney’s help.

When you create a will on FreeWill, they provide free forms to bring to an attorney. Stray Rescue of St. Louis works with and recommends Amen, Gantner & Capriano, Your Estate Matters, L.L.C. They can discuss techniques on how to make charitable gifts during life and at time of passing to maximize the income tax benefits of making those gifts. They will also discuss how to make provisions for your pets to ensure they are taken care of upon your passing.
