We came across this BIG, wounded baby boy who was too scared at first to let us go near him...Of course we couldn't just leave him there.
So afraid and in unimaginable pain, he kept snarling and curling his lip. We know to respect an animal and give them space, especially when they're in pain. We never use a catch pole. So, we went back to the shelter and scooped up our biggest trap to ensure he had anough space to walk in without tripping and further injuring that huge swollen leg. We also stocked up on delicious, smelly, warm food to give him upon our return.
He couldn't resist the food and he went right in the trap! It took 6 guys to help us load him up. Thank you to Ben and the crew from the National Park Service Ground Maintenance. We named him Big Ben, after you.
Big Ben, get ready to feel love. It's going to be new, but we are ready for it.
