Rescued with multiple injuries, this is GizmowMay 10, 2019 | 2:12pm
Rescued on 5/10 with multiple injuries, this is Gizmow.
Just went on a tough rescue - sorry this is graphic, there is a lot of blood. We're rushing her to our trauma center now. Thank you to the Fire Department for calling and helping us get her in the car.
This sweet girl is safe in our clinic and receiving support for her pain. We're pretty sure her jaw is broken and are going to do x-rays to see if we find bullets. Updates coming. We have named this sweet girl GizMow, after the company who offered to give $500 toward her medical care.
We know you’ve been anxiously waiting for an update on Gizmow! Overall, she is doing good. She had surgery on her jaw as well as having her leg amputated, so it’s been a big couple of days. But our little fighter is in GREAT spirits! Love her so much.
Her shoulder has an infection and she was showing some discomfort eating, so her doctors are going to take another look at her jaw. Hopefully we’ll have great news and photos soon!
Thank you for your support and for believing in her. Please keep her in your prayers, we know she’ll make it through this!
Our girl Gizmow needs your prayers once again today. She’s had some complications with her jaw surgery and is having another one today. This time they are having to wire it shut and put her on a feeding tube for the next 6-8 weeks. This will give her mouth the rest it needs to heal fully. Despite it all, she’s been nothing but grateful and filled with tail wags. We know we have a miracle girl on our hands. Hopefully after this surgery she’ll start feeling so much better and be on her way to a full recovery.
Our sweet angel Gizmow is doing good. She's resting comfortably in her new apartment. She moved from ICU today. She has a long, hard road ahead, but with all of your love and prayers, we know she can make it through this. Her leg was amputated and her second jaw surgery went well. Updates to come, thank you so much for your support.
Stray Rescue has always been huge fans of the St. Louis Blues. Today, Jake Allen came to meet Gizmow and wish her the best in her recovery! She loved him! She is such a champ during her feedings. She's so strong and has the best attitude after all she's been through. She just wants love!

Gizmow finally got some good news today. She got her sutures and staples removed - her leg amputation is healing great. She's got to be so much more comfortable now.
Her jaw is healing nicely, but she still has a few more weeks before she can get her mouthpiece removed and will need to keep her cone and muzzle on (although she loved getting it all off for a few minutes today!)
All she wants is love and to lay in our laps. She is SO strong. What an inspiration.
Oh, Gizmow ❤️. She started eating on her own but was way too excited and messed up her mouthpiece. So this sweet girl is having to get it redone ?. She is so brave, so strong, and we think she understands that once this is all over, she'll be able to run, play, and eat whatever she wants! She just has to hang in there for a few more weeks. ? Please keep her in your prayers, she's been through so much. Here she is enjoying the grass and the sunshine. Ugh, love her.
Update on Gizmow:
After she broke her mouth piece, we weren't sure what we were going to be able to do. But after deliberation and quick thinking, her vet team decided to do a root canal and pull some of her teeth that would cause problems during the healing process. She didn't have enough good bone to use wires and plates, and the resin mouth piece wasn't going to hold. She still has a long way to go during her healing journey, but she is pain free and eating all by herself. She is giving plenty of kisses now that she is able to, too. ?
Her attitude is so positive and her crooked smile makes her even more lovable. She loves all the attention she is getting - we don't think she's ever gotten much in her life. She just wants to sit with someone. We can't thank you enough for supporting her during all of her surgeries. She is a miracle - a WARRIOR, just like Harris & Marco! We'll continue to update you on her progress!
Gizmow! That SMILE - she is the absolute sweetest! She loves sitting outside to watch the birds and cuddling in her apartment. She cannot wait to be rid of her cone! We love you, angel girl - you are perfect! Keep healing, soon you'll be ready for someone wonderful to scoop you up and spoil you rotten.
If you've been waiting for your chance to love and spoil Gizmow for the rest of her life, then we can't wait to give you the great news that she is now medically cleared to go HOME! Her rescue was a hard one - very tense. We just wanted to free her from the pain she was in. Take a look at the photos below to see a glimpse of her healing journey. Her crooked smile is perfect. We love our Gizzy Girl!
