Imagine The Day The Suffering Stops : Sona's StoryAugust 9, 2016 | 3:36pm
Imagine suffering for six months with a collar growing into your neck as your body matures. Six months is the average timeframe to end up like our recent rescue, Sona. Imagine the pain as maggots begin to multiply inside a wound so deep and infected that Sona needed emergency surgery. Now imagine who is responsible. A human of course. Is it laziness? Is it a total disregard for a living, breathing, loving soul? Is it animal abuse…you bet it is! I wish I knew the answers to my own questions.
We all need to be overseers of dogs living on chains to your neighbor who doesn't seem to care about the health of their companion animals. We need to be their champions and report to Stray Rescue and local officials when we witness any dog suffering like Sona has been.
The cause is when someone puts a collar on a young animal and doesn't bother to loosen the collar as the animal grows, or when someone places a too-tight collar or rope around the neck of a chained dog. The collar can actually grow into the animal's neck, leaving the dog in extreme misery and pain, and at Stray Rescue we see it all the time.
Sona is healing great! Here is my visit with her.
We are near the end of the matching grant, and we have yet to meet the goal of $50,000 (which means $100,000 with the match) for the Sona's of the world. If Sona and Champ inspires you to donate, do it. Let's leave no dog behind as a community, as a family of animal lovers who want to see healing and justice. Let's finish the grant goal today! You with me? We got this!
And here is the miracle Doctor, Dr. Greer and her favorite patient! She is also Champ's Doc.
Help me raise the final $10,000 before Monday's deadline!
Love, woof Randy
