An Important Message from our Executive DirectorMarch 20, 2020 | 3:05pm
I feel that it’s important to keep all our supporters informed about what is going on in our day-to-day world here at Stray Rescue. This situation is unprecedented, and we are navigating the best we can through the daily changes. In order to keep our staff and visitors safe, we have started scheduling foster and adoption appointments, as well as scheduling pick up times for our newly implemented pet food pantry for families who are affected financially. Simply stated, this is very difficult for us because we are used to welcoming the public with open arms. Even through social distancing, we are still working together and helping each other get through this. And we will!
As we continuously monitor this ever evolving crisis, we are staying true to our mission to Leave No Dog Behind. We’re still out on the streets saving as many lives as we can because the COVID-19 pandemic does not stop the abuse, neglect and abandonment of the most vulnerable animals in our community. But we’re only able to continue our lifesaving work because of our amazing supporters like you. As we have said before, our hearts are bigger than our budget. That’s why it pains me to announce that we are having to cancel our first major fundraising event for this year - Spring for Strays. We depend on this event as well as the independent events that local businesses generously host for us which have also been canceled. The funds raised from these events directly impact our ability to provide the emergency care and services our community has come to depend on from us.
Stray Rescue is well known, and that is a blessing because it allows us to use our voice to educate, save, inspire, help other shelters, and turn the tide for homeless animals everywhere. However, when people think of the neediest organizations, we may not come to mind because we do have such a big voice and following. The truth of the matter is, we do not have unlimited funding and must continue to depend on generous hearts like yours. It is extremely difficult and humbling to ask for financial help in the best of times, but even more so in these uncertain times. But, I have to do that now for the sake of the animals and our mission. Every single dollar helps, and even the smallest contribution is huge to us. Thank you so much for always being there for Stray Rescue and all the forgotten, abandoned and unwanted animals that we can continue to help because of your compassion.
