NeNe PR was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Puerto Rico. He is about 2 years old and weighs 15 pounds. NeNe PR has a spinal cord injury which impacts his strength and coordination of his rear legs. He wears disposable belly bands to manage his urinary incontinence. NeNe PR was very fearful of everything when he first arrived at Stray Rescue. He was shut down and overwhelmed, but has never displayed any aggressive behaviors. He has been living in a foster home since January and his personality has really blossomed. He loves playing with toys and being near the family. He is so small; he is easily carried when necessary. He does have a wheelchair he uses for short periods indoors/outdoors. He can scoot around the house and grass if he is not in his chair, but can not do steps. Steps will need to be blocked off for his safety.
NeNe PR will probably do best with a very patient family and quiet home. He will need lots of time to adjust to his new environment. A friendly, confident dog to play with would be great but is not necessary. NeNe PR is very nervous meeting new people, but if you give him lots of time and love, he is worth it!
PLEASE NOTE THAT NENE PR IS IN A FOSTER HOME, NOT AT OUR SHELTER.
PLEASE CHECK STATUS BEFORE FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT AN ADOPTION PENDING.
