March 30, 2017 | 4:16pm

St. Louis, Missouri (March 31, 2017) – Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Mayor Slay are excited to announce St. Louis City Animal Care & Control (ACC) will be primarily run by Stray Rescue of St. Louis in efforts to make the city the most humane city in our nation. Stray Rescue will provide adoption services, rescue, shelter and medical care for homeless companion animals.

“This is a historic moment for our city with the primary goal to stop euthanizing adoptable and treatable companion animals while offering resources to our community keeping families and pets together. I waited to see this day for over 20 years, and I’m excited for the future for our city’s four-legged friends.” Says Randy Grim, founder of Stray Rescue. “I’ve been blessed to watch and be a part of the evolution from gas chambers to a compassionate city that cares about the animals in our community.”

Melba Moore, the City’s Director of Health, adds “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened. The partnership with Stray Rescue is an opportunity to awaken the heart of our community to adopt the lovable animals in the City Animal Shelter. We want to reach more people who want to serve as foster parents and guardians of our animals.”

We know it is a tall order to have a no-kill city, but this what Stray Rescue does best, outside the box thinking. It will take all city residents to support and assist in achieving this goal.

To kick off the partnership, Stray Rescue and ACC will be holding a celebratory cocktail reception, Barks and Boas, at the City Hall Rotunda on Saturday, April 8th from 6pm-10pm. The community is encouraged and welcome to attend as this is a celebration of a historic and joyful event for all St. Louis residents.
