Rescue Stories
Giving Tuesday Saves Lives What would the world look like if we put generosity first? This day was created because everyone has something they can give. Every act of generosity, no matter how big or small, changes our world for the better. Giving is about more than dollar amounts; it is the act itself that connects and empowers us. There is room at our table for everyone to give...and receive; to lift one another up and rally around each other. Together, we have the power…
Meet Elfrid - WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT Is it possible to trust too much? Does unconditional love make you weak? Or, maybe it opens doors to healing that wouldn't be there without that trust, even after unimaginable pain and betrayal. Elfrid is not afraid to love humans, even after the horrors that people have put him through. This is his story.. A good samaritan that we have helped with dogs before in southern Missouri rescued a dog with an unspeakable injury. She emailed our Executive Director…
Heart. Broken. This sweet old lady joined our family today and is so, so sad. She has been neglected for so long. She's miserable from itching, she's painful, her eyes hurt, her ears hurt, she's cold...she has no confidence. This poor baby has GI parasites, entropian in both eyes and chronic dry eye so will need eye surgery to fix this, she has terrible skin from fleas, secondary infection, and sarcoptic mange. It's amazing to think that a simple monthly preventative such as Nexguard given…
"I keep hearing howls coming from an abandoned school on my street." - Good Samaritan We rushed to the scene and immediately confirmed what that Good Samaritan had reported: there was a brown pittie staring down at us through a broken window on the top floor of a school. Every door and window was boarded up except for one small enclosure that led into the basement. There, we found a platform and a 12’ drop. This being the only viable entrance at ground level, he…
This little cutie's name is Glynn, and he needs us all right now. He was hit by a car and is now suffering from a luxation in his spine. He needs specialty and emergency surgery NOW, and we have promised him every chance we can give him to right this wrong. We were quoted $8,000 - $10,000 for his surgery, but we know we could never place a value on his priceless and precious life. Together with your help, we know we can keep our…
Aila means "from the strong place" Today has been a madhouse. Now, in addition to asking for fosters, we're also asking for your prayers. This poor angel. We're told she's been giving birth all day, and sadly, none of the puppies have been alive. She's having extreme complications that we won't go into on this post, it's too upsetting. She needs emergency help. She's been in the heat, covered in flies all day, trying to give birth in this plastic bin. We have her safe…
Giving Kevin a New Life This poor baby. He's had such a hard life, he's covered in scabs, scars, has a terrible ear crop-job, too skinny, and his front left leg is swollen and he won't put weight on it. We fell head over heels for him. He was so hungry he accidentally chomped Donna's finger at first but he would never hurt a fly. Bless the sweet lady who has been caring for him when he showed up on her doorstep asking for help.…
Help us order new 4 new IV Units for our clinic and parvo ward! We use our IV Units daily. We have animals coming in injured, dehydrated, and yes - suffering from Parvo. We are proud to have a Parvo ward and to help so many puppies get their second chance. We are helping more animals than ever before and no longer have enough units. Each IV Unit is $900 and we would like to order 4 more to keep in our Parvo Ward for…
This tiny little kitten was thrown out of a moving car Friday morning as it drove past Stray Rescue! She hit the ground hard and bruised badly on her face and eyes . Why are people so cruel to such small, innocent animals? Tina, one of our team members, was thankfully outside and went running to get her. She couldn't stop crying after witnessing such a callous act. We named her Tiny Tina. Our Vet Tech Emily took her home to care for her as…
This little girl needs your prayers big time!! She was hit by a car and found safety down these steps. The homeowner called after finding the dog there and she wouldn't get up. We thought she had broken legs after being hit by a car, but sadly it's much worse. Her pelvis is shattered. We're sending her x-rays to specialists to see if they can think of a way to help her. She's nothing but sweet and we hope we can help her. Send a…
