Helping Mary This poor, poor baby just arrived. She reminds us of Jessie. She is COVERED in bite wounds, head to toe. There is a lot of damage to her eyes. Her right eye might actually be totally ruptured. She also has cherry eye on both sides which makes it hard for her to see at all. She’s limping and completely out of energy. She collapsed after she arrived. We will do everything possible to help this poor baby who has been through hell. We…
Construction Updates on our Future Home! We want to update everyone on how construction is going on our future home! We have outgrown our beloved shelter on Pine Street. Over the years we have saved more than 50,000 deserving, beautiful lives there. But as our organization continues to evolve and grow, there are so many MORE WAYS we can help animals and the people in our community. Our future home will be Stray Rescue's forever home. News 4 Update 5/13/24 --- Construction-wise, things are definitely…
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and LOVE is on our minds! Who loves unconditionally and gives you everything they have? Why dogs and cats, of course! So this month, we are asking you to GIVE LOVE...literally! Sponsor an adoption fee this month for one of our beautiful, adoptable pets. When you choose to GIVE LOVE, you are making it easier for forever families to open their homes to a new family member. The funds they would have spent on an adoption fee can…
EMERGENCY FOSTER PLEA FOR OUR SISTER SHELTER! Dear Saint Louis, I am reaching out to you again, because you spoil us and never fail to step up like the warriors you are when we need you. You see our pleas for help, and you never let us down. Today I am asking for help for our sister shelter located on the island of Saint Thomas. Just like every shelter across the country, their shelter is beyond full with animals in dire need of help. But…
Stu - The St. Bernard, at least 80 pounds underweight This dog was just found in an abandoned house. Finders are bringing him here now, say a prayer for this guy that he makes it here. Updates to come. He's here. We named him Stu. He's at least 80 pounds underweight. An adult St. Bernard should weigh anywhere between 120-180 pounds, and Stu is just 43 pounds. He's soaked/saturated in urine - we're told he was found in a crate in the abandoned house, with…
Big Wumbo, Welcome to Stray Rescue This is not mud, it's blood. This very sweet boy just came to us and is in the clinic now. He has a very deep laceration - we're unsure at this time if it's from an animal, human, or gun, but we've got him. Because of you, we said YES. Let's help him together! Updates coming shortly...
Russ Needs Our Help! About a month ago, a dog named Rosalina came in. Her right rear leg was broken and her front right leg had a nasty abscess that wouldn't heal. Because both legs on the same side of her body were injured, she couldn't stand, walk, and didn't know how to even balance. YOU stepped up for her and chipped in, allowing us to book her specialty orthopedic surgery for her rear leg. She is doing great! As soon as her rear leg…
Help us save Rosalina's leg! The clock was ticking as Rosalina was set to be euthanized at another shelter within 30 minutes. Desperate employees called everyone they could think of because they just knew this dog could be saved and didn't have to lose her life. Sadly, Rosalina entered a shelter after being hit by a car. She couldn't walk, but they didn't know if she paralyzed or injured. At the very least, they wanted to find out the extent of her injuries so they…
Sliced open by fencing wire, Meet Picket Most often we rescue from city streets where dogs hide in abandoned houses and scrounge for food. They dodge speeding cars, bullets, hide from people who are hurtful to them, and sleep with one eye open. But we also transport in dogs who desperately need our help from surrounding rural areas where they face an entirely different set of threats. We've had dogs come to us who have been shot with a bow & arrow, have been attacked…
Miracles Come in Small Packages Meet Pogo We received a call from a Rottler Pest Solutions technician. They were working at a house and found a 2 month old kitten. Her legs were all cut up and swollen, and there were maggots in her wounds. They were here within 20 minutes and that baby went straight to our clinic. All four of her feet are crushed. They are necrotic with exposed bone! How did this happen to you little one? Updates to come, we hope…
