Renters were evicted and they left the dogs chained out out behind a building to die. You would think this is a rare occurance but it is not. Countless dogs are DOA at Stray Rescue and most sporting a chain that could tow a house. The starvation of the dogs started well before we were contacted, for the tenants who were evicted left just days before.
"Our Little Boy" R.I.P This is a tough one for me to write, and I can barely bring myself to relive this awful day last Thursday. We respond to many CSB calls a day (Citizen Service Bureau complaints to the city) in order to help our city, as well as our normal street rescues. The worst part is these are just 2 of 20 victims rescued that day.
Responding to a CSB report, Jenn and I arrived at Steward's Car Wash on Delmar to find a very injured, bloody dog who couldn't move and was just in terrible shape. He didn't even attempt to get up throughout the entire rescue because of a terrible neck injury. Due to the nature of this poor dog's injury, we quickly realized this would take a team effort to save him.
It’s the day before Thanksgiving and the morning had been unusually quiet. Then shortly after high noon, we got a call about a sick stray we have been trying to find for two days that had been spotted again and that got the ball rolling for a dramatic long day of rescue.
