Rescue Stories
Dear Stray Rescue Family, This newsletter is one of the toughest ones I've ever had to sit down and write. The world is changing daily right before our eyes. The world has had to adjust and adapt at a rapid pace and so has the Rescue world. One of my concerns was how is Stray Rescue going to be able to help the community the most? So, when the COVID-19 pandemic descended upon us, we wanted to make sure we were doing everything we could…
April 11, 2020 The first two photos were sent to us today: "Can you help?" This poor little puppy is here with us now, we named him Dobby. But he is even skinnier in person, these photos don't do his condition justice. His temperature is very low. He is wrapped up in our clinic with warm water bottles. He will go home with one of our amazing staff members tonight. He needs your prayers and positive vibes! Poor sweet baby has been through so much,…
Even in the best of times, it’s sad and discouraging for us when we see abandoned animals. Whether they’re on the street or left behind when their families move away, it breaks our hearts. But we’re not functioning in the best of times right now. People are struggling. They’re out of work and losing their homes and having to make painful decisions. They’re doing the best they can. So, when we found this sweet girl tied up at the entrance to our shelter this morning,…
The Lincoln 23 The situation was dire. There was a rural property filled with numerous dogs who needed help, and several of them were being shot. It’s amazing how quickly a situation can become unmanageable when dogs haven’t been spayed or neutered. We were tagged on Facebook with a plea for help, so our team jumped into action and immediately put a plan together. The plan included calling our friends at Frank Leta Acura/Frank Leta Honda and asked if we could borrow a van with…
From Hopeless to Hopeful - Emergency Situation JUST IN: We have been asked to help in an emergency situation. **Absolutely no judgement will be allowed in the comments of this post** A woman has been doing the best she can to feed stray dogs a few hours outside of Missouri, but the dogs have been reproducing and reproducing. There are now 40+ dogs and puppies on the property and they need our help. “Impossible to count all of them, so many puppies, so many adults…
Dear Friends, I feel that it’s important to keep all our supporters informed about what is going on in our day-to-day world here at Stray Rescue. This situation is unprecedented, and we are navigating the best we can through the daily changes. In order to keep our staff and visitors safe, we have started scheduling foster and adoption appointments, as well as scheduling pick up times for our newly implemented pet food pantry for families who are affected financially. Simply stated, this is very difficult…
Since our Warrior boys Scooch and Riley don't need the red wagon anymore, they have passed it on to our newest paralyzed resident, Clementine! This very sweet girl came to us after being hit by a car and suffered damage to her lumbar vertebrae. Although unable to use her back legs, this precious girl's upper body is very strong! She is a good candidate for a set of wheels. She has a winning attitude and a very loving personality, we know she can do this!!…

LOUIS FOR HELP (Photos from CNN) St. Louis, Missouri (March 9, 2020) – As recovery efforts are underway in Nashville, Tennessee after horrific damage caused by tornadoes last week, The Nashville Humane Society is struggling to keep up with an abundance with intakes. This boy is breaking our hearts, and he needs all the strength and love you can send to him right now. Meet our new family member, Cilly, who is giving us flashbacks of what happened to Marco. Just like Marco, Cilly was attacked by another dog, and his wounds have gone untreated. His little body is full of infection, he’s septic, and has necrotic tissue. His face is swollen, and he’s absolutely exhausted. We're thankful for the people who found him, and we’re glad that…
14 Senior Dachshunds get a Second Chance When we were contacted on Facebook about helping 14 elderly dachshund mixes whose owner had passed away in southern Missouri, we just had to help. The family was unable to provide the care and resources these precious souls needed, and they wanted to make sure the dogs would have a fighting chance. It broke our hearts to think of these senior dogs without a home, and we could immediately see that they all were in dire need of…
