Soda Fountain's Heartbreaking Story
Please meet Soda Fountain, a very special soul who has just joined the Stray Rescue of St. Louis family. After being hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road, we’re told she laid there in excruciating pain for around 4 days. She couldn’t stand or walk on her own and was laying there helpless.
Finally, someone found her and called us. We welcomed her with open arms and quickly set her up for x-rays because we had a feeling not only were things broken, but she was pregnant. Sadly, her pelvis is shattered and will need a specialty surgery to repair it (x-rays below). Soda Fountain is very pregnant and will be giving birth to roughly 10 puppies in the next two weeks, but we are happy to say this will be her last time.
She will have to have a C-section due to her pelvis being fractured. Sadly, the injury will not allow her to give birth the natural way. Soda Fountain will have her pelvic surgery after the babies are born. We will be able to wean them a little early so she can start her road to recovery and healing.
We made a very comfy and quiet room for her where she can get rest and feel safe until her puppies are born. With everything she has been through we peek in to see her and she is smiling in her sleep. This poor girl is safe with us and we will do everything possible to give her a life of love, healing and no more being bred for money.
As you can imagine her surgery will cost thousands of dollars, so we are desperately asking for your help. She is worth every single penny, and that’s what makes Stray Rescue and our donors so unique. We do whatever it takes to give these warriors the second chance they deserve. Ever dollar adds up to make these miracles happen. We will let you know when she is scheduled for her C-section and keep you posted on the puppies. Please keep her in you thoughts!
UPDATE 10/11, 5:00PM WOW, what an amazing afternoon! We did it! Dr. Schulz performed Soda Fountain's emergency c-section and delivered 9 sweet little angels! Originally there were 11, but sadly we lost two. Because mom was sedated, our team worked hard to get the puppies breathing on their own. They are eager for mom to wake up, they're hungry! Welcome to the world, little ones - 5 girls and 4 boys! You are so loved already. And thankfully mom will never have to go through this EVER again.
