A Message from our Executive Director
One of the ways in which Stray Rescue is set apart is that we proactively save the animals other organizations turn away or euthanize. These animals have been let down – abused, neglected, abandoned. It’s our responsibility to help these animals who bravely survive the worst of mankind and other cruelty on the unforgiving city streets. The first step in their rehabilitation is medical care which is vital to their survival, and we always go above and beyond to provide the care they need.
There is so much good that we’re doing and thousands of lives are saved, but it comes at a cost. Our mantra “Leave No Dog Behind” are words we live by and guide our hearts. When we see animals who are suffering, scared, hungry and dying, we can’t just stand by and do nothing. These are the very animals Randy Grim set out to help twenty years ago when he founded Stray Rescue. They had no one else, and they still need us today. But what I’ve realized is that our hearts are bigger than our budget.
Donations have sharply declined this year, but the need has increased – especially since we have voluntarily taken over the care and adoptions of the animals at the St. Louis City Animal Care & Control center. Since we have taken over a year ago, we have increased the save rate from 58% to 94% and can say that St. Louis is now a no-kill city, thanks to Stray Rescue. As always, we remain squarely focused on the animals of St. Louis. We believe that all animals deserve a second chance for a loving home, and by donating to us, you are directly helping them recover from all the trauma they have experienced. We at Stray Rescue accept donations both in cash and in kind, but we must be honest and state that we do need quite a bit of money to be able to meet the medical needs of animals in our care.
All of us at Stray Rescue are proud to be a part of the St. Louis community and feel honored to have the opportunity to help so many animals every day. We’ve grown so quickly and faced many challenges over the years. Whenever called on for help, the community has rallied around us and helped pull us back up from our darkest times. We are asking for your help today. Please help us keep our clinic doors wide open for the dogs and cats who so desperately need us. Please be their miracle, and donate today to the Stracks Fund for emergency medical care.
Please help us continue to save the lives of these precious heartbeats who so desperately need us. They need all of us. We look forward to your continued support.
With Deepest Gratitude,
Stray Rescue of St. Louis
